The GOLDEN SPARROW is the largest festival for German children’s media. Every year, young audiences and industry professionals are invited to get an overview of professionally created high-quality German-language film and TV productions as well as digital media for children. As the largest event dedicated exclusively to children’s audiovisual media in German speaking countries, the festival is an important platform for industry events and networking. It also encourages children to explore the variety of media available to young audiences and to take an active part in the festival, whether as jurors, reporters, or simply as curious film fans. The prestigious GOLDEN SPARROW trophies are awarded by two children’s juries made up of children from Germany and neighbouring German-speaking countries.

The German Children’s Media Foundation GOLDEN SPARROW is the patron of the festival of the same name. Other projects under the umbrella of the GOLDEN SPARROW foundation include: KIDS Regio (a lobbying initiative for high-quality and diverse European children’s films), and Schulkinowoche Thüringen/Sachsen-Anhalt (an annual cinema week for school classes). The aim of the foundation is to provide a public platform for high-quality children’s media.
